Lovers of New and Old Jade and Jadeite gathered for this year’s celebration showcasing the great contemporary carvers of the Jade Through The Ages Show Group. The show that was previously known as Jade Art Now for the last 3 years was expanded this year to include even more ancient jade collections. A total of ten private estate jade and stone artifact collections dating up to 10,000 years old were presented to the viewing public.

Georg Schmerholz with Kirk and Mrs. Makepeace enjoying a moment together after the unveiling of Georg’s Buffalo Skull and Polar Jade creation from the famous Makepeace Jade Mine. Georg had his uniquely creative pieces on display throughout the show, which enlightened many to the possibilities of form, function and creation from a supremely gifted sculptor.

Tom Finneran is well known for his creative designs and exquisitely detailed carving and machining using Jade as the main focus, sometimes coupled with differing metals. His superb bangles were once again a great hit during the show, as were his many fine pendants and unusual jade amphorae.

Hnin Eindani was born in Yangon, Myanmar (formerly Burma), in a country which is well established Internationally for its artistic expression, and is a well known jewelry designer in her own right.
Her Father was one of Myanmar’s best known traditional Buddhistic sculptors in Jadeite, Marble and Wood. ”He was my first teacher in learning the basics of sculpting. But my interest grew more in creating my own designs for jewelry as they are infinitely more personal and wearable”. Hnin was a definite hit of the show who brought forth a depth of Jadeite creations of such fine quality as had never been shown before.

Peter Schilling of Taking Form Jade once again produced a phenomenal number of his specialty pendants in a spectacular array of new designs. Exquisitely executed and richly polished, Peter’s pendants were once again the hit of the show with many sales to both new and old attendees. Peter’s mastery of form, function and whimsy left many wondering how he does so much fine work while holding a full-time job at one of America’s top museum complexes.

Steve Stegall of A Gathering Of Spirits Gallery showed many fine examples of his art including many pendants and singular creations, as seen above. Working in British Columbian Nephrite and a variety of exotic jades, Steve shows the progress that comes with years of hand-producing works of art with a passion for fine detail.

Dante Lopez of Studio Dante in Cancun, Mexico showed some of the finest Guatemalan Jadeite sculptures, necklaces, pendants, and cabochons ever to have been displayed in the USA. The quality of Dante’s work, along with his attention to fine detail, ‘wowed’ even the other participating artists. Showing pure and translucent ‘Ice Blue’ Guatemalan Jadeite in itself is exciting, but to see it transformed into pure art is breathtaking.

Justin Barrett of “Just in Jade” showed with us this year for the first time and was a huge success, as was anticipated. Having been a Jade ‘Diver’ and collector for years off the Big Sur, California Coast, Justin is also familiar with jade from all over his native California area, and indeed from around the world. To have him with us this year was a treat for everyone involved, and with all the help he provided and sales he made during the showing of his creative pendants and sculptures, ingratiated him to the entire ‘show team’.
